Pfizer is an american company founded in the 19th century, and nowadays present all over the world and especially in Belgium for Europe. Their production site of Puurs in Flanders was created in 1963 by Upjohn and acquired in 2003 to produce mainly aseptic medicine. Each year more than 300 million sterile units are produced and exported to more than 170 countries.

Customer Goal

New building composed of 2 production levels, for each production level there is two technical floors for HVAC and electricity. Ground floor will be used for other utilities, to finally make 7 floors building with a 5500m² footprint. Equipment will be implemented in two phases, approximatively one first phase for first production floor and a second one for second production floor.

Prayon, world leader in phosphate chemistry, has 4 production sites based in Belgium, Engis and Puurs, France and the United States.This document only concerns the Prayon site in Engis, Belgium, an important industrial site for the production of phosphates.
Electrical faults like short-and open-circuits, in the switched reluctance drive and the investigation of fault patterns and possible remediation. Each situation is inevitable.
Possible remediation schemes other than disabling the faulted phase are explored. There is a particular focus on switch short-circuit for which new results are presented.

Bringing electrical cabinets into conformity

The study consisted of site visits to all electrical installation to identify the complexity of each cabinet, completing a predefined checklist done by our team in order to identify the gap in the cabinets and propose future remediation solutions for electrical cabinets as well as for cable trays and cables.

Four main solutions were studied in this feasibility study and proposed to Prayon each with budget estimation and a macro-planning that considers Prayon’s shutdown period.

Customer Goal

Build a new power plant building on Rixensart site.

The project consists of the studies and the realization of a new power plant at the production site of Rixensart.

The new building will also include a storage area and offices.

The new power plant allows the production of chilled water (needed for pharmaceutical processes and cooling of buildings) and steam raising.

This site should facilitate the future development of the site of Rixensart.

It consists of:

16 MW for the production of chilled water

45 t/h for the production of steam

12,5 MW for the production of cooling water

The project consists to implement 2 new boilers of 15 tones each, 2 chillers 4MW each, cooling tower system of 12 Mw capacity, Water treatment and officies. Main systems Diesel generator, HV Transformer, TGHT, TGBT Lighting management system, BMS, SCADA, Data Infrastructure, Access control, cameras….

Cosucra is a Belgian company which is active in food field. At the origin, the first business of Cosucra was sugar producing. Between 1986 and 1990, Cosucra started a new business to extract vegetal protein and fiber from yellow peas. In 2003, Cosucra stopped sugar production and focused his business on functional and nutritional ingredients production. The process to extract protein and fiber is done by PROVITAL, a subsidiary company from COSUCRA.

Customer challenge

Faced with an explosion in demand, Cosucra wanted to produce more and faster.

Our team was successfully involved.

Cosucra’s mission was to increase production by

  • Adding a new centrifuge decanter
  • New extension building on dry phase of the process
  • Electrical installation revamping
  • Routing modification on high voltage electrical network

Our Solution

The project was divided into 5 phases:

The first and second phases ended and consited in an increasing of wet and drying phase.

The panaromix 3 phase consists in another increasing of wet phase. This phase includes adding new process equipment to mix water and peas (including power supply and instrumentation cables), equipment modification or revamping.

Provital is a division of Cosucra company and is active in food and feed field. They are a world leader for the pea protein production and produce also other product like starch, feed, and fiber.


Customer challenge

With the development of vegan food, food supplements for athletes and the food engineering, the pea protein demand is growing year after year and especially for Provital where the process is recognized to give a product of high quality and purity. Since several years, Provital started to increase the production capacity with the “Panoramix” project.

This project is subdivided in 5 phases for the renewing of existing equipment, adding new equipment, construction of new buildings. The phase 3 of the project concerned the construction of a new building for mechanical processing, new silos for the storage, revamping of the electrical installation inside the pea storage building, construction of a new packaging building.
