Pharmaceutical manufacturers are some of the largest producers of waste around the world. Although the industry is highly regulated, this does not always extend to the management of waste materials, meaning the influence waste has in driving a more sustainable production process is often overlooked.

GSK decided to build a new facility for the waste managment to store and manage Waste of Rixensart Site.

Project started in May 2010 for a duration of 13 months

GSK wished to install new buffer capacity for site process effluents to give a buffer time prior to discharge to the local sewer . GSK collected before de project effluents in two collection pits ,pump these to a pair of neutralising tanks, and neutralise using a carbon dioxide injection system prior to discharge to local sewer.
